In August 2015 I visited my family in Kauai. We spent a day at Kalihiwai beach and paddled up the river there with kayak and sup board. I smelled rotting animals up the river and also smelled pig feces. When i returned to the mainland several days later, I had a massive skin infection on my lower legs, itching, burning and very red. My doctor said it was a bacterial infection and treated it accordingly. I've never had anything like this before.
