I never thought to blame the ocean before seeing your app, but now I suspect an illness I contracted in Hawaii probably had to do with all my ocean swimming! In June '08 I lost over a third of my body weight to a 2 month bout with diarrhea and stomach cramps. I couldn't eat a thing without experiencing violent digestive symptoms. Additionally, I was weak and listless. My doctor took all sorts of fecal samples and tests, but never did identify the organism that was plaguing me.
I'd always blamed the drinking fountain at the rental car facility in Kahana: It lies just downhill from Maui's sewage treatment plant! And within 2 days of drinking from it, I became ill. But now after seeing your app, I wonder if lots of ocean lap-swimming at Napili Bay wasn't the culprit.
This was several years ago, so let's hope the threat is gone. Thanks for your app.
