I participated in the Malibu International Distance Triathlon at Zuma Beach on the 17th of September and became ill with a fever and respiratory illness 48 hours--almost to the minute--from the swim portion of the event. A friend and lane mate at the pool reported having a similar experience after a swim at Zuma a few weeks prior.
