We enjoyed Labor Day weekend near Lincoln City Oregon at a beautiful beach house. When we arrived, our grandson and son in law were throwing up and chilling. They had arrived a day before the rest of our family. Our daughter and granddaughter hadn't been in the water and were not sick. The next day, we noticed a warning posted on the boardwalk that there were higher than normal bacteria levels containing human fecal matter and to stay out of the water. Too late. We were walking barefoot on the sand except for my husband who heeded the warning and wore shoes and socks on the beach. One by one we all got violently ill with the stomach flu, high temps, aches and pains and now, a week later, I have developed an extensive rash. I have eczema and had open sores on my feet. Next time? I will wear shoes and socks, as much as I love going barefoot in the sand!
