I went ocean-wading just up to my knees the morning of Sunday, July 24, 2016, and by that evening, my right lower leg was swollen-up like a sausage and I had a horrible red, insanely-itchy rash on the top of my lower leg. It got so bad I went to my doctor the next day, and he immediately thought it was some sort of sensitivity to a toxin or irritant, or cellulitis, put me on antibiotics (Keflex), and just to be safe, ordered an ultrasound to make sure it wasn't a blood clot (DVT). Had the ultrasound today which showed no blood clot, even though my leg looks like it has similar or same symptoms. The leg continues to itch insanely bad and is very hot to the touch, swelling is slowly going down. The only correlation I can make is it all started after wading in the ocean that day. I did have a couple of small shaving knicks on that leg and suspect some bacteria or (?) got into me that way. I'm not one to get sick or catch things easily. There is a water run-off pipe near the pier which we deliberately did not walk through or in, we're always cautious of avoiding contaminants, but were about 200 yards from the run-off.
